Craig’s career reflects a rare combination of municipal public safety leadership and higher education executive experience. He has served in senior roles at some of the nation’s most prominent public and private research universities, where he led comprehensive campus safety and emergency management operations.
Prior to his work in higher education, Craig served as Deputy Director of Public Safety for the City of Columbus, Ohio, assisting in oversight of one of the largest public safety operations in the region. His responsibilities included strategic leadership, fiscal management, and operational coordination across multiple divisions.
In addition, Craig retired from the Columbus Division of Police after more than 29 years of service, during which he held command assignments in Patrol, Internal Affairs, Homeland Security, and Staff Inspections. His career-long commitment to professional standards is reflected in nearly two decades of service as a CALEA assessor and team lead, guiding agencies nationwide through accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
Beyond operational leadership, Craig has contributed to academic instruction, statewide commissions, and national professional forums. He has served as an adjunct professor, accreditation resource president, gubernatorial commission member, and national conference presenter.
Craig holds a Master of Science in Administration of Justice from the University of Louisville and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute, Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Leadership College, IACLEA Executive Development Institute, and United Way’s Project Diversity Board Leadership program.
